Clermont County Institute closes with praise and plans

The Clermont county Teachers Institute at Williamsburg ends after a week of lectures and readings. Highlights include sessions on history teaching, rhythm in reading, and nature study led by Supt. Van Cleve and Prof. Fess. Engagement Celebrations Amid Diverse Showers for Miss Ashburn

Since Miss Mary Ashburn’s engagement was announced she has received many gifts and parties. Mrs Buvinger hosted a miscellaneous presents shower. Mrs A W Ashburn gave an afternoon party with tokens. Mrs C P Griffith hosted ping pong. Mrs Oscar Lindsley gave a kitchen shower. Mrs J H Robinson presented a linen shower. All events occurred last week and were enjoyed by all.

Batavia Band Secures Labor Day Parade Placement

The Batavia band contracts to play in the September 1 labor day parade, to be stationed in the second division at the head of typographical union No. 3. It is praised as a compliment and follows Bellstedt's celebrated band as a second choice. Clermont bands have all been secured for the event, billed as the largest parade yet. Batavia Fair opens Tuesday August 26, 1902.
