Congressman Charles C. Kearns of Batavia visited Ports mouth as President Harding died and praised the late president. Mayor Ross helped raid a brick yard gambling pit with Klansmen aiding, seven men arrested and bonded for appearance Tuesday.
The Clermont county Board of Commissioners orders all county buildings closed on the President's funeral day. The vote by Bergman Hutson and Donley supports mourning actions nationwide. New Hillsboro paper planned by Press Printing and Publishing Co with editors Kerns Belkey Grandle Shager and others to launch as a Democratic weekly by October.
In Ten Mile near the Ohio River a Saturday night shooting arose from an old grudge over land use. John Franz shot at Mark Temple seven times with one bullet striking Temple in the leg as a party of friends neared Temple's home. Sheriff Rapp arrested Franz. before Squire Daly he waived examination and the case proceeds to the grand jury with a $1000 bond.

Jordan, a pike contractor, was working near Lindale.
The County School Board met Monday and re employed P. E. Wilson of Bethel as county attendance officer for another year. They also placed under investigation the transportation of scholars and the annexation of No. 5 school district in Wayne township to Edenton.
San Francisco report says President Harding feared his final illness would be fatal and spoke of family losses at his age. Chicago dispatch notes an early 1920 realization that the presidency would demand sacrifice and that he preferred the Senate mood to run for president.
I M F Ross mayor of Batavia Ohio requests citizens to suspend business at 3 p m Friday August 10 1923 and assemble at the Court House in Batavia to hear taps and observe services for President Harding in Marion Ohio.
William Reed Sargent an 11 year old New Richmond boy will be one of the attractions at the Boston fair on Thursday. He will drive in the races during the afternoon. He knows the game and no doubt will put one over the older men. Everyone wants to see the boy drive.
County clerks who were elected last fall assumed office Monday for two year terms. The treasurer, recorder and county engineer will take office September 8. The county commissioner is the last official to take office in October for a four year term. Other officials begin two year terms.
The Wilmington Fair runs Tuesday through Friday this week and already shows promising success. Exhibition quality and a high class racing program are planned along with many other crowd pleasing features for attendees.
Former West Union boy and government aviator James W. Newell will give two exhibition flights at the West Union fair on Thursday September 13. He is described as an expert flyer and will arrive from Dayton that morning, landing at the Wm. Bayless field west of the fairgrounds for the show.

Record reports Milford liquor court receipts up to July 1 1923 showing net $56 350 42 and costs $56 696 29. Mayor and marshal fees are not listed.
Stockholders of the Cincinnati Horse and Mule Exchange met on July 26 to plan winding up the fifty year old firm as auto and truck use reduces demand for animals. The exchange aided farmers by supplying horses and mules for shipment and dairy feeds with university backed formulas and digestibility details. County Agent Clyde B. Tom notes possible shipment of this feed into the county this year.
Harry Wyatt son of Mr and Mrs Geo Wyatt of New Richmond was killed Friday in a Cleveland automobile accident. A tobacco buyer by trade his body was returned to New Richmond for burial at Mt Pisgah family burying ground after a funeral held on Monday.
Property deeds show numerous transfers in Wayne Tate Pierce Batavia and Milford townships with parcels ranging from 18 to 211 acres and prices at 1. Affidavits and transfers accompany estates for John Rogers William Johnston Viola Sapp and Lucretia Hopkins among others. Five mortgages totaling 38111 and seventeen were canceled releasing 20980.
Clermont County Farm Bureau and Experiment Farm will showcase the tale What Jack Did at the county fair August 14 to 15, occupying most of the fair booth space.
