Walter Knauss aged 42 was named as Councilman and will serve a term ending January 1977. He plans to extend the sewer system to the Anars4ome supervisor for the Great Oaks Vocational School District and resides with his wife and five daughters at 5221 Belfast Rd. Owensville. Mayor Ruth Homan is presiding over the appointment for health reasons.
Wilma Parsons, clerk of the board, submitted a brief resignation letter citing no reason and effective September 1. Sources allege political pressure tied to local Democratic party involvement. Commissioner Harold Bissantz denies threats. Parsons neither confirms nor denies the claims.

Army Corps of Engineers workers on a large recreation facility dam project anticipate rare flooding. Resident engineer Houchin notes the partially built dam can hold 100 feet of water now and 126 feet when finished. A second dam will block water from entering the old lake and guide development while keeping the lake area natural.
