In Clermont County 7 962 boys and girls may return to school in September as districts report pupil counts by township village and special districts. Enumeration shows 6 to 8 year olds, 8 to 14 year olds, 14 to 16 year olds, and 16 to 21 year olds across districts.
Attorney J R Woodlief presents a memorial for Fred Hamilton Griffith who died after a long illness. Born May 10 1879 he lived in Ashland and Chicago and Louisville and married Lillian Campbell. He leaves a son James Jr and a surviving family as he sought church membership before death.
E R Boggs of Rocky Ford writes The Courier praising the area for cantaloupes and good crops. He mentions moving in mid June, his wife’s improving health, a thriving real estate and loan business with Mr Lateen, and notes the season’s first cantaloupe crate sold for five dollars or about 16 cents each.
Bethel Chapter Order Eastern Stars holds a lawn fete on Blue Stein's lawn Saturday August 18 with afternoon and evening sessions and a general line of refreshments to be served.
Allan T. Lockwood of Batavia will marry Pearl Cox of Walnut Hills Cincinnati today at the Lockwood home. Pearl Cox is the daughter of Benjamin Cox, deceased, and granddaughter of Joseph Cox, a former circuit judge in this district.

The Old Bethel M. E. church hosts a lawn fete on Saturday evening August 6 in Rapps Grove Bantam with tea cream cake and refreshments. Maple Grove ladies hold an ice cream supper on the church lawn also Saturday August 6 inviting all to attend with friends.
German American Bank stockholders met Monday in Batavia to organize and elect James L. Archer as president and George J. H. Hugo as vice president. Directors chosen include Archer, Rapp, Hugo, Walls, Wolf, Prather, Gregg, Reed, and Smith with Walls serving as temporary secretary. P. E. Kline was named treasurer. cashier position to be filled. A second stockholders meeting is planned Saturday to finalize start up details.
Clermont county teacher Institute sessions set for August 15 to 20 in Bethel with Supt Morris Miss Georgia Thompson and Prof B T Davis heading committees. Bethel residents promise generous hospitality and social as well as instructional program with local helpers and a Cincinnati music director guiding Institute music.
Ohio's standard bearer Warren G. Harding of Marion is nominated for governor at Columbus on the third ballot. The slate includes Francis W. Treadway for lieutenant governor Granville W. Mooney for secretary of state Rudy W. Archer for state treasurer Ulysses G. Denman for attorney general and judges Crew Summers plus Nutt for supreme court posts. The platform endorses Taft's administration and pledges unity and victory.
The Hulick-Weaver families held their thirty seventh annual reunion at Highland Park on Saturday July 30. J. B. Hulick presided as oldest member while W. W. Duckwall was elected president for next year. The event featured a literary program games boating and a memorial plan for John Hulick Revolutionary soldier with prize results announced for multiple contests.
