Company B Guardsmen win 147th trophy at Camp McCoy
Clermont County unit of the Ohio National Guard returns home proud after winning the 147th Regimental trophy for excellence in training and appearance at Camp McCoy. Four officers and sixty eight men, led by First Lieutenant Leon Kibler who recently recovered from an auto accident, are part of the achievement. Sign prank moves along highway sighting near Owensville
Residents report a Halloween prank sign shifted from the outskirts of Williamsburg to the Brushy Fork Road and Route 50 intersection near Owensville. Mrs Ed Quallen recalls it being placed last Halloween and moved again, as pranksters continue their joke.

Fireman Injured Battling Batavia Tire Shop Blaze
Fireman Laffleur was treated at Christ Hospital for leg injuries after fighting a midnight blaze at Clermont Tire and Supply on Market Street Batavia. The fire likely started by boiler heat, damaging the building for several hundred dollars. Henry Stewart operates the business and Charles G. White owns the building. Willard Kalchek, who lives next door, spotted the fire and alerted the department.

Brothers Bound Over To Grand Jury In Assault Case
Joe Bill Haas and Charles Haas of New Richmond were bound over to the Clermont County Grand Jury after a hearing before Justice Sterling Brown. They were arrested on a warrant by Floyd Hogel for assault with intent to kill. Hogel said the brothers stayed at his home late Saturday into Sunday and an agreement led to his severe head and facial injuries.

Missing Goshen Boys Return Home From Louisville
Two Goshen youths Theodore Ballman and Wimbert Davis returned home Wednesday after being sheltered at Louisville's childrens center. They had hitchhiked toward Nashville then went to work as caddies at Camargo Club, disappeared Thursday, prompting Sheriff Dericks to search along streams and Little Miami before a motorist turned them over to police.

Driving Rights Suspended for Year in Clermont County
William W. Malone of R R 3 Batavia pleaded guilty to DUI before Judge Harry Britton in Clermont County. His driving rights were suspended for one year, fined 500 dollars plus costs, and sentenced to six months in jail with the penalties suspended on good behavior. Malone was serving a previous assault and battery sentence at arraignment.
