Fortney Led Newspapers From Clermont To Loveland
Fortney 79 of 2205 Bauer Ave died after a half year battle with cancer. He founded and ran several Clermont area papers including Clermont Courier Press Milford Advertiser Press Loveland Herald and others in Clermont Hamilton Warren counties. A 1933 West Virginia University journalism graduate he worked for Chicago Daily News and edited multiple ventures before WW II service. He rose to lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves and earned Heart and Bronze Star medals for bravery in Europe.

Clermont Mercy nurses face shortages in the region
Clermont Mercy Hospital joins the Greater Cincinnati area in reporting a nurse shortage. Management cites lack of nurses ages 20 to 40 and a preference for day shifts over night or weekend work. Current staffing runs at about 250 full time RNs with shortages varying by patient load and season. Pay remains a key issue with average hospital nurse wages around 11 dollars an hour.
