Oldest Ohio resident John Long dies at 119 in Happy Hollow
John Long 119, the Colored Deni zen of Happy Hollow near Milford, died peacefully. Born April 10, 1767 on the Brandon plantation in Virginia, he witnessed Yorktown, waited on Washington, and spoke of the surrender meal with Cornwallis. His freedom came before the Civil War and he recalled a life visiting Washington’s headquarters and serving Major Byrd’s family.
