Trap Nets Two Coin Changer Looters in Williamsburgh
Two youths aged 18 and 20 were caught in the act at a Williamsburgh laundry coin changer. They dropped a half dollar and manipulated the lever to keep the machine dispensing coins. Police set a trap with two officers at a peephole view. They were arrested. Judge C. E. Danbury fined them 100 dollars and gave 30 days in jail suspended for a year with probation. Additional thefts of coin boxes and racks were reported at local stores and post offices.

Measles survivor Lt. Ely returns to Athens in bully good health
Lt William B. Ely, 20, reports after a measles illness at a Louis hospital that he is in bully good health upon returning to his regiment near Athens Alabama in early April 1864. He describes travel from Savannah Tennessee to Decatur Alabama and back, notes hospital provisions, a confiscated plantation house hospital, and a cooking stove. He asks for provisions and a black hat, mentions former slaves with the unit, and recalls a Sanitary Commission ration of onions kraut and ale. The letter hints at camp life and longing for home during the Civil War.

Former Countian To Receive Justin Ford Kimball Award
James E. Stuart, former executive director of Hospital Care Corporation in Cincinnati and ex-resident of Countians, is chosen for the Justin Ford Kimball Award by the American Hospital Association. The honor recognizes encouragement of voluntary health care plans and will be presented at the Atlantic City convention September 25 to 28. Stuart led the Blue Cross Plan for Southwestern Ohio from 1942 to 1957, then became vice-president of the Blue Cross Association and later its president in 1960. He remains a consultant to the Cincinnati Blue Cross Plan.
