Old Perintown School Destroyed By Fire
Sparks from a trash fire near the old Perintown school caused a blaze that destroyed the building at Wolf Pen Pleasant Hill Road and Route 50. Florence Joslin owned Mack's Furniture and Appliances of Milford. loss estimated over $20,000 as Milford and Miami East fire crews contained the fire. Water from East Fork disrupted traffic while officials rerouted vehicles. The school had been abandoned after Perintown consolidated with nearby districts and was later sold at auction to Larry Conover.

Five Classrooms Closed At Amelia
Amelia report states five classrooms in the old Amelia elementary building were closed after a ceiling collapse weekend of April 7 8. Four rooms on the second floor and one downstairs with plaster ceilings are shut as a safety measure while students hold classes in the auditorium. Board of education awaits repair cost estimates to decide whether to fix ceilings or abandon the building. The structure with wooden features fails state fireproof standards and has a long running roof leak from improper drainage.

Child, 3, Drowns In Open Cistern
Michael Vinson, three year old son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Vinson of Tealtown Rd, drowned Tuesday afternoon in an open cistern near the Glen Este Race Bowl. He wandered from home about 1 30 p m. Fire crews from North Union and Williamsville located the body as they pumped water from the cistern.
