New Owners to Intensify Defense Plant Expansion
A syndicate has bought Woodville Machine Tool and Die Corp on Route 138 near Milford. Clermont Industries plans a large plant expansion to support the growing defense program. Louis Berzsenyi remains as plant general manager. John A. Wiethe becomes treasurer. Harold Hirschberg is president with Bernard Staadeker as VP and Harold Effron as secretary. The operation employs about 60 people and includes a long-term lease on a five acre site. No staff or operations changes are planned.

Hoosier Pleads Guilty In Trailer Theft Case
A Muncie man Fred Anderson aged 21 pleaded guilty to grand larceny in a trailer theft. He was bound over to the Clermont County Grand Jury under a $1000 bond by Batavia Mayor J F Paschal after being returned from Muncie by Deputies Marvin Bissantz and John Woods. Anderson plus three others are charged in the theft of a trailer valued at $100 from J J Johnson of Neville. The co-defendants have not yet been arrested.

Milford Man William H. Herrmann Dies at 80
William H. Herrmann, a retired farmer and longtime Milford and Park area resident, died Sunday at Brynes Rest Home Walnut Hills after a stay since January. He was 80. Services held Monday at Craver Funeral Home Milford with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Woman Bound To Grand Jury On Check Forgery Charges
Batavia mother of seven, Mrs. Alice Raper, pled guilty to two forgery counts before Mayor J. F. Paschal and is bound over to the Clermont County grand jury on $500 bond. She confessed to forging an endorsement on a $23 Robert Johnson check and increasing a $5 Salvation Army fund drive check to $55, allegedly aided by juveniles accused of rifling mail. Chief Ed Colonel led the Batavia police investigation with rail line investigators W. M. Smith and R. L. Heineman of the C. & O. Railroad.

Missing New Richmond Girls Return Home After Hiatus
Two Clermont County girls missing from New Richmond since April 5 were found in Franklin Indiana and returned home by New Richmond Police Chief Andy Painter. Jeanette Griffith 14 and Shirley McClure 15 had traveled via Amelia Cincinnati and hitchhiked to Franklin before planning a trip to Indianapolis for work.

Milford Man Dies in Head-On Crash Near Chile
Oscar Slagle 41 Milford was killed when his westbound car collided head on with a Reinhart Trucking Co truck on U S Route 52 about a mile west of Chile. Truck driver James Hall suffered a skull fracture. Slagle, a Milford councilman, Krause Hardware salesman, and member of several Masonic and Shrine organizations, died after a Shriners dinner. Funeral services were held at Monroe funeral home with Masonic and Scottish Rite rites.
