County Eyes Action On Northbound I 75 Truck Ban

Clermont County Commissioner J R McBride plans to testify before the Public Commission of Ohio and urge lifting the Northbound I 75 truck ban in Kentucky. He favors filing suit to force action by Ohio or the county if needed and wants intergovernmental talks with Ohio Kentucky and Indiana. Clarke voted against delaying diversion concerns noting it remains safest, while urging better signage for I 75 and I 275 due to construction.

Clermont County Child Support Sets New 1986 Record

Clermont County's 1986 child support collections reached $1,286,703.55, nearly doubling 1985 totals and rising 172 percent from 1985 to 1986 while up 269 percent from 1984. Prosecutor George E. Pattison credits stricter enforcement and multiagency cooperation, including the Support Enforcement Unit, Bureau of Support, clerk of courts, sheriff, juvenile court, and the prosecutor's office.

Youth hear Wyche's wisdom at Clermont reception

Bengals head coach Sam Wyche spoke at an April 7 reception in Pattison Park for about 60 Clermont County students in the Clermont/Warren Consortium’s in school work experience program under the Jobs Training Partnership Act. Wyche directed Warren Miles, an 11 year old Milford South Elementary student, as he wore football gear. Wyche, a magician, entertained about 180 JTPA youth and family members with sleight of hand.

Suspected cocaine dealer flees deputies after undercover deal

John Richard Anderson Jr., 27, of Goshen, allegedly sold about two ounces of cocaine with a street value around $4,000 to an undercover officer in Miami. He led deputies on a high speed chase along Ohio 28 and I-275, then tried to flee on foot before being captured. Bond set at $38,000. he remained jailed Monday on charges including felonious assault, aggravated trafficking, fleeing and eluding, and possession.

Holland death helps others live in Batavia

Four people received cornea or tissue transplants after the death of Holland in Batavia. Officials say the death was not a homicide or joint release and that brain death occurred after oxygen supply was cut off. The poison control center and the deodorizer maker reported the substance was harmless and no toxins appeared in tests.

New Legal Services Division Formed in Batavia

In Batavia the Legal Services Division is created from the Child Support Enforcement and Fraud Units. Commissioners Martha Dorsey and Jerry McBride approved the change, with reorganization to take weeks. The Income Verification unit will join Legal Services under welfare fraud, per McBride, to protect recipient income data.
