Mil ford hosts one of its largest gala days on Saturday April 18 to celebrate the Little Miami river bridge opening. Festivities run noon to midnight with floats prizes business parades side shows free dance fireworks and ample parking as Clermont and neighboring counties join crowds headed to Milford.
The Batavia Business Mens' Club hosts a Five Hundred party on Tuesday April 28 at 7 30 p.m. in the O N G Armory to raise funds for a fire alarm siren. Tickets 50 cents, prizes for players, self service refreshments, music after games. Tickets at Nash Pharmacy. Committee members include A E Price BE, S Long, Wallace Carroll, John Rapp, Charles Pringle.
A mad dog from Fayetteville caused panic in Marathon last Saturday. It bit a child and several dogs before Sheriff Croswell located and killed the animal. The dog was identified as the Fayetteville cur. Citizens are urged to watch their dogs closely for a time.
Schedule lists April events for Williamsburg Township High School including Baccalaureate on April 19 with Rev Nihizer of the U B church, commencement on April 25 with Rev Traverce Harrison of Standard Publishing Co Cincinnati, plus junior senior reception April 22 and 28 and April 24 class play. Alumni notes omitted.

Last will of Martha J. Philhower leaves her entire personal property to daughter Jennie Gaul and names her executrix. Francis Marshall’s will directs payment of debts and gives all silverware to Olive Marshall Lynch with household goods money and securities to Bessie L. Long. No appraisement requested.
A condensed record of property transfers listing grantors and grantees, parcel sizes from one acre to forty acres, and nominal consideration of one dollar for numerous townships including Miami Batavia Pierce Williamsburg Milford Neville Amelia Epworth Park Bethel Ohio, and Marathon.
Commissioners met in a special session on April 7 and approved numerous payments for supplies, labor, and services. Items include Armstrong Stationery Co. supplies, Columbus B. B. Co. ribbons and board bills, various labor and material costs, postage, stamps, and tax refunds, totaling numerous small disbursements.
The Easter cantata by the United Brethren church choir drew one of the hall’s largest crowds. Twenty four singers performed pieces with special preparation, opening solo by Louise Lee. Rev Seamaur directed with Sophia Franz on piano. A reception will honor 23 new members at the high school auditorium Wednesday evening.
Batavia Woman's Club meets Saturday with Mrs. Donald Jamieson to discuss Nature Day and member responses about favorite Batavia spots. Papers cover Tragedy of Our Forests Plants of Our Western Deserts and Wonder of Our National Parks. Public Utilities inspector Frump visited Vermont county fining truck operators for missing liability insurance.
Francis Butler Marshall, born August 8 1859 in Philadelphia to Samuel L and Mary Coleman, married Joseph Marshall in Baltimore on December 29 1885. She lived in Greenbrier Clermont County Ohio then Batavia where she joined the M E church and Eastern Star, served as chaplain and life member, supported by a loving circle of friends and family until death at the Long residence. Her faith and kindness touched many, leaving a final note of hopeful resolve.
Buerkle and Pringle win a Batavia arterial highway contract to furnish 200 yards of stone delivered and rolled for 2.50 dollars per cubic yard. Co on Mt Carmel Tabasco pike awarded 5 cents per cubic yard.
The Sunday service featured a junior choir, solos, and an Easter anthem. Fifteen joined by baptism and thirty five more became full members. Over one hundred fifty participated in the Lord's Supper. Four children were baptized in the afternoon and a children's program closed the day.
Emma Gest Davis wife of William H. Davis died at age 69 after a long, quiet life in the community. She leaves two daughters Mrs Frank Judd and Mrs Wayne Garrard and two grandchildren. Also notes a call for Red Cross aid after a recent house fire harming a family with three children.
Three indictments found by a grand jury include William Hanoford and Alfred Miller for larceny. Hanoford pleaded guilty and was sentenced to the Ohio penitentiary, Miller pleaded guilty and received a sentence to Mansfield reformatory. Warren Holden entered a not guilty plea to forgery. trial set for next Monday.
Bethel high school will award diplomas to twenty seven students in a large class for the county. Commencement is set for May 7 with Prof Walter B Bliss delivering the class address. The bac staff address is on May 3 followed by the Senior class play that evening.
The Owensville O E 8 Chapter held inspection Saturday night with a large membership present and refreshments to finish the evening. The Batavia Chapter held inspection Monday evening with fifty visitors. Mrs Eva Justice presiding and a good membership in attendance. The Embroider Club honored Mrs Davidson and Miss Alice with a Saturday evening event. Mrs Davidson has sold her piece and moves to Cincinnati.
Mrs Mollie Ross joins her mother Mrs Anna VanCamp at home. Dr Will Washburn and wife visit Mrs A Clark in Kewanee Illinois. Mrs Floyd Walker from Blanchester spends time with parents. Mrs James Rose and Mrs Florence Needham travel to Hillsboro. Lillie Jordan heads to camp near Mason. Neighbors visit and house renovations progress. Easter visitors and many family notes fill the town pages.
Ed Ross and family visited Adres Gariie Meren’s family in Newtonsville. John Schiller and Henry Garbe called on Sunday in nearby Perintown. Wal A ichore and family of Norwood spent Sunday visiting. Albert Ross and others joined in PeasantSaturday activities. Ed Boge attended, with Bagby and daughter from Loveland spending the week at home. Turton of Cincinnati visited his sister.
A field meet at Whitaker School drew Olive Branch Mc Mahon and Whitaker with a large crowd. Olive Branch won with 45 points Mc Mahon 31 Whitaker 23. Albert Brothers led Olive Branch while Mildred Motzer and Elsie Motzer tied for Mc Mahon top scoring. Whitaker defeated Mc Mahon 10 9 in five innings and then battled Olive Branch 11 7.
On April 8 Bishop Theodore S. Henderson and wife from Cincinnati along with Bishop Earl Cranston and spouses and church officials gathered for a supper hosted by the Ladies’ Abd jery. At 7:30 p.m. Henderson spoke to a large congregation on Evangelism outlining key factors for church upbuilding and Mrs Henderson and Mrs Simms sang several solos.
John D. Bowman of Kentucky died last Sunday near Monterey when his car struck a vehicle ahead, rolled three times, and crushed him. He was taken to a Williamsburg funeral establishment and then to his uncle’s home near Belfast. He leaves a wife and two children. Authority cites excessive speed for the light traffic.
The National Producer movement formed less than four years ago and has established terminal offices in major markets including Cincinnati. In a February 10–28 window the group handled 92 cars, about 10 percent of receipts. last month 113 cars or 13 percent. last week over 18 percent and Wednesday hogs reached 27 percent. The association serves as the live stock marketing agency for Cincinnati producers and could absorb twice current volume with minimal extra help, reducing marketing costs and increasing refunds. Former clerom. Hugh C. Robbins of Cincinnati announces agreement to manage all aeronautical interests for the American Racing Record. Operations to begin within a month, featuring enhanced instruction surpassing standard military schools and an air route delivering newspapers to Louisville Lexington and Columbus. Curtiss and Lincoln Standard planes to be used. Robbins also listed as tentative for Lincoln Curtiss airplanes. The Keen Bros lumber office was burglarized last week with minimal losses. burglars scattered papers, leaving a tag on the safe knob stating no valuables within.
