Clermont County Breaks Ground for Special Classes School
Long awaited groundbreaking ceremonies for the Clermont County Special Classes School will be held April 24 at 4 30 p m on Benton Road west of Owensville. The $1 7 million project will house 180 children in 43 000 square feet with completion planned before fall classes.

Batavia police recovered 365 dollars worth of property from a total 810 dollars stolen in March. Chief Ward reported to Mayor Jamieson. Village police logged 32 fire incidents two break ins four larcenies one bad check and one vandalism case. Officers answered 29 calls assisted 16 times managed six special details gave 18 breathalyzer tests handled two dogs at the pound and found one door and window open.

Land of Grant Tour Inaugural Ceremonies Set for April 15
The Land of Grant Tour inaugurates Saturday April 15 at 10 a.m. in Point Pleasant. It mirrors the Grant Sesquicentennial plan and is led by the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce with support from local historical societies. The tour runs through Georgetown and Bethel with the Clermont County Antique and Classic Car Club piloting the route as historians and dignitaries attend.

Veteran Amelia Banker Dies
Herbert F. Jeffries, 66, cashier and director of Amelia State Bank, died Friday at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a brief illness from a heart attack. He joined Amelia Bank in 1952 after W. A. Williams, who served 45 years,. Jeffries had a long banking career including Central Trust Bank and First National Bank. He and wife May Steidle married in 1927 and lived at 934 Clough Pike. Survivors include three daughters and seven grandchildren. Funeral 10:30 a.m. at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home Amelia with Mt. Moriah Cemetery burial.
