Mt Carmel March 31 teachers gathered at the M E church with Dr John Hancock of Dayton addressing the group on patriotism and education. Supt Crook chaired the meeting. Supt Felter and Supt Jordan spoke on the teacher ideal and schools amid immigration, wealth disparities, and the need for a future organ in every classroom. The afternoon featured music, readings, and a committee request for Hancock to attend the Amelia picnic in June. the association adjourned after news on growth and plans for next year.

Death of John Knaus Hits Local Community
John Knaus a respected farmer died suddenly of heart disease last Monday night March 26. He left a widow six children and many friends. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church New Richmond with burial in Green Mound Cemetery. Miss Nannie Peoples is ill and several locals are noted for Easter visits and summer work.

Seven Clermont Brothers in Civil War Union Service
S. B. Wood and six brothers from Clermont County served in the Union Army, with varied campaigns and hardships. Several were captured or disabled, two died later, and the family notes their mother’s steadfast peace making as they gather for reunions. The writer, G. M.
