Dayton March 29 concluding session of the Western Ohio Superintendents conference approved steps to enlarge educational funds for communities. The Legislative Committee will visit Columbus to push legislation for state aid to counties whose local taxes fall short of school demands. More than 200 five ton tanks will tour cities and rural roads during the Victory Loan campaign. Each district will receive 12 to 20 tanks manned by two soldiers with machine guns and loan posters.

Free Mail Delivery For Milford and County Offices

Milford is set to receive free mail delivery and other county third class offices may follow if requested. The country town post office serves as a social hub at mail time while clerks sort the mail. Margaret Lurinda Holmes born May 1837 in Bloomrose C died March 18 1910 near Williams burg Ohio at age 81. She married Cornelius E Holmes in 1856 and had two children Flavious Wilbur and Jessie who died young. Mary Jane Scott, Milford Widow, Dies at 75

Former Williamsburg resident Mary Jane Scott aged 75 widow of Col. George H. Scott died the 21st at her Milford home after living there over 20 years. She survived six children: Mrs. Rachel Reidy of New York, George H. Scott Milford mail carrier, Harry Scott veteran of the Spanish War of Dayton Ohio, Charles Scott, Walter Scott, and Mrs. J. H. Kain of Milford.

Soldier H. H. Hamilton Returns Home From War

H. 8. Hamilton formerly of Batavia per an August Defender report enlisted from Adams county and served in France with the 29th Engineers in the sound ranging unit. He fought in the St. Michael offensive and remained on the Metz front until the armistice, and has now been mustered out and returned to Eekmannville.

Sophomores Entertain Seniors at Batavia High School

The Batavia High School Sophomores hosted the Seniors on Friday night in the school auditorium with 60 attendees. Decorations included pennants, with dancing, games, and recitations forming the evening's program.
