A young woman, distraught by private sorrow, leapt from the East Fork Miami River bridge at Rocky Ford Bend. She was carried by the current, later found washed ashore. Hotel staff and physicians attempted revival, but she died soon after, her body recovered by the riverbank.
The scene shows a patient saved from suffocation. The Samaritan team renewed efforts until the patient breathed again. Doctors ordered rest and warmth as she slept, then awakened at ten for stimulants and asked the time. The landlord confirmedWednesday, April 1, and the doctors advised silence.

A young German, Julius Byer, newly arrived in Batavia, works for Sebastian Buerkle the beef merchant and borrows a wagon to haul his housekeeping. He returns with his load and more beer, missing hides, a gold watch and ring. He falls ill and is confined. Cincinnati detectives name him Dennis.
Advertising copy touts SwayYNnx OINT MENT as a cure for eczema tetter salt rheum ring worm piles itch sores pimples and scaly eruptions without internal medicine. It urges Clermont residents to visit Neckware Mingua at 75 Court Street to view new stock.
The Ripley Sunday-school convention met on Tuesday 24th with large attendance. Rev. J. F. Burnett presided as the meeting featured speeches by Rev. J. B. Smith of Georgetown and Dr. L. W. Bishop. District representatives were chosen for the State convention and Clermont county reporter duties assigned.
Mrs Annie E Gaskins wife of Dr John C Gaskins of Amelia applies to the probate court for guardianship of her three minor children aged one three and six. She names her brother James E Robinson as guardian. Married September 30 1883. Hearing today. defendant may not appear.
A list of civil actions includes Wm. W. Sutton against John E. Sutton for partition and several foreclosure and dowry suits. Other cases name E. A. Walker versus Ella B. Marks and John E. Clark versus H. D. Tone on appeal. An ad touts Simmons Regulator as a remedy and announces seeds for sale at The People's Grocery.
April activities include Arbor Day on the 2nd, Grimesey Me Soy at City Hall on the 10th, and Colonel St Clair Brag's congressional speech on April 9 and 10. Community notices cover lectures, theater, school plans, weddings, deaths, and local business openings in Batavia Ohio with multiple local personalities and organizations named.
Two brothers Frank and Edgar Fitzwater of Elk Lick moved to Batavia to start a hardware business. A string of forged and unsigned notes, endorsed by others, led to attachable personal property, bank demands, and a wide financial crash. Edgar fled. Frank’s involvement appears uncertain but grave. Creditors suffer as sums near two thousand dollars vanish.
An 1880s style ad warns of a terrible disease called Consumption and urges action for a 50 cent sample. It touts Shiloh's Cure as a guaranteed cough remedy and advertises Jersey Rep and yellow sweet potato seed at Kline's.

Answer to the questions on German Socialism in the March Chant, World of Today, Geology, Miss Mary Carter, History of the Church Questions, Miss Anna Rawson, The Roman Catholic Church A Symposium, Miss Cora Griffis, Debr ing Sea Controversy, D. K. McDonald.
A group of friends gathered Friday at Carrie Kain’s residence to surprise Mr. and Mrs. M Moore on their thirtieth wedding anniversary. The plan succeeded with about thirty guests enjoying conversation games and an elegant luncheon.
On April 9 and 10 the Histroric Society of Batavia presents Hoyts great comedy A Bunch of Keys with a strong cast and new scenery. The production features bright effects and aims to surpass prior society efforts.
Delightful services marked Easter Sunday across churches with ornate flowers and a white cross centerpiece. Children in white carried lilies while singing, with recitations and remarks from C. T. Jamieson and Mrs Carrie Hannold offering touching solos and addresses on Easter's meaning. The German church also hosted fitting observances amid flowers and music.
Funeral held at the Pattison family home near Milford Friday afternoon with many mourners and clergy in attendance. Rev Dr Van Cleve led services. tributes by Dr Robison Dr Whitlock and Dr Moore highlighted her life from childhood to womanhood. Pallbearers listed. praise given to her character and the immortality promised. Also included are advert lines for Dr Bull's Baby Syrup and Old Saul's Catarrh Cure with dealer notices.
