Miss Susie Melton aged 11 months died at her parents home in Clayton December 19th. Funeral at Baptist church with burial in the city cemetery. Survived by father and mother and four brothers. Ben Melton of El Paso sent heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. Current Topics Club met December 47th at Mrs Fowler's home with brief discussions on charitable plans and Christmas activities.
The Community Christmas tree event will be set up in the public square for donations. Residents are urged to bring money and goods to support gifts for children, with plans to move indoors if weather turns unfavorable to the Misten theater.
Seumondsons will hold a large Edmondson family reunion nine miles east of Clayton on Christmas Day. Mr and Mrs Edmondson and their thirty nine descendants are expected to attend with extended relatives from Abingdon and Layton. The gathering will give thanks before Christmas dinner at the Johnson home with a "bounteous" meal.
Buster Brown and his dog Tige visit Clayton New Mexico promoting Brown Shoe Co products. A large crowd of children gathered, asking questions as RES Brown and Tige spoke on the benefits and quality of the shoes. The event ended with applause and plans to return for another appearance.
A well attended Saturday evening gathering of Clayton Lodge A F & A M chose officers for the coming term. Named were Harvey as Worshipful Master, with senior and junior wardens, senior deacon, junior deacon, secretary, and other key posts as reported by the meeting notes.
