A Ward 17 cler k in Precinct F confessed last week to shortpenciling ballots by writing in an extra mark to invalidate voter choices. The note emphasizes voting machines resist such tampering and promotes bond funding for machines in Hamilton County.
CIO appeals to the C SO to back the United Appeal Campaign running Oct 5 to Nov 9 with Red Feather Red Cross and new Red Feather Service. The goal for 1956 is 4 691 000, sources note 1955 totals include Red Cross 649000 and Community Chest 3552880. Local unions expand payroll deduction and industry chapters to support the drive.
In 1954 a George Byers auto employee was fired for union activity. Butler won an unfair labor charge after a National Labor Board decision. Settlements followed with back pay and cease and desist orders. Similar GE cases awarded sums to Brown Bailey Patrick Moore.
