CIO Council Voters Endorse Al Jordan for City Council
At its May 18 meeting the Greater Cincinnati Industrial Union Council delegates overwhelmingly endorsed Brother Al Jordan for re election to Cincinnati City Council. Jordan praised the delegates for their support and vowed a strong campaign against payroll tax and anti working class legislation. He stressed unity across parties and races. CIO President Hellkamp and UAW CIO subregional director pledged support and Jordan plans to establish Jordan headquarters and name a campaign manager soon.

Vocation Schooling Urged in CIO Appeal
The CIO urged Congress to approve a 29.3 million federal state vocational education appropriation under the Barden Act. It warned that automation will push demand for retraining and that current programs are underfunded. Robert Oliver called for expanded retraining in distressed areas and for low income farm families.
