Beloved William C. Grainger Dies at 89

Babe Grainger's family mourns the death of William C. Grainger age 89 who passed away last Thursday. A Walnut Hills resident, he served as a mail carrier for 35 years and later as a postal supervisor at the Federal Building. He also held the role of vice president at the June Building and Loan Association. He lived at 2624 Essex Place and had a full, happy life.

CIO unions raise nearly 500000 for flood relief

CIO unions and CIO members have raised close to 500000 for flood and hurricane victims in the Northeast. A $187,721.16 check was given to the American Red Cross in Washington two weeks earlier, adding to more than $300,000 previously donated for rehabilitation. The presentation came from Joseph A. Beirne, president of the Communications Workers, as CIO Community Services chair.

Farm Equipment Firms See 33.5% Profit Rise in 1955

The Wall Street Journal reports farm equipment makers earned 33.5 percent higher profits in the first nine months of 1955 than in the same period the previous year. The note suggests wage increases could have occurred without triggering price rises.
