Ohio CIO Council Files 135000 Signatures To Humanize Law
The Ohio CIO Council filed about 135,000 signatures on over 6000 petitions to place an initiated bill on the ballot, needing 77,934 valid signatures. Petition validity is under local board review as CIO plans a broad registration push for November 8. The measure would raise unemployment benefits from 33 to 50 dollars weekly, extend eligibility to three dependents, lengthen the payment period to 39 weeks, and curb employer appeals.
