United CIO President Walter Reuther testified before the Senate Finance Committee urging higher personal income tax exemptions to 800 this year and 1000 next year. He argued removing dividends and depreciation provisions would offset revenue losses and stimulate demand for American goods. He challenged the trickle down theory and cited large gains for a few while arguing relief should go to the majority to raise take home pay and purchasing power.
