Cannon Taken From Park For Repairs
The 19th century artillery piece in the park was disarmed yesterday and sent away for repairs. Park officials say the old Civil War cannon would not have offered strong defense anyway, and the unit will be out of service briefly. August Perchland and his brother will perform the needed work, including replacing spokes and repairs.
