Immaculate Conception Church Marks 150 Years in Grafton
The Immaculate Conception parish in Grafton celebrates its sesquicentennial with a 1:30 p.m. Mass officiated by Bishop Anthony Pilla and a following parish hall dinner. The church traces roots to 1835 1840 area with early Masses in a log cabin, later the St. John of the Cross Mission, and moves to Erie Street in 1863, rebuilt in 1867 with local sandstone. About 475 families attend, and more than 200 expected for the anniversary events concluding a year of commemorations including a parish picnic to become annual.
