Daniloff Free After Month-Long Soviet Tension

Israel Indicts Demjanjuk for Treblinka Deaths

Israel charged retired U.S. autoworker John Demjanjuk with crimes against the Jewish people and humanity for allegedly serving as the Treblinka guard Ivan the Terrible. The 26 page indictment links him to forcing Jews into gas chambers and operating mechanisms that caused deaths, with potential death penalty if convicted. Ambulance service extended in Elyria for two months

Lorain based Elyria EMS will continue operating in Elyria for October and November as city officials seek a long term contract. Mayor Michael Keys announced the agreement after discussions with Raymond Strohacker, owner of Elyria EMS. The measure follows a prior council committee decision to pay Majoras Lifecare Ambulance a monthly subsidy while negotiations proceed.

Lorain County jobless rate climbs in August
