Iran rejects Iraqi terms to end week-old war
Iraq claimed capture of a key Iranian air base near Dizful and offered to end the conflict on terms that would curb Iran's dominance of the Persian Gulf. President Bani-Sadr said Iran would fight on, while Ayatollah Khomeini's son vowed to continue the war. The U.N. Security Council urged ceasefire and mediation.
