Marrero's Market Delivers Bread and Flavor in South Lorain
Marrero's Market at 29th and Pearl Ave in South Lorain draws customers with homemade bread and pastries baked daily since 3 a.m. by one master baker. Owners Jose and Dolores Marrero describe loyal buyers from Philadelphia, Youngstown, and Cleveland who stock up on 300 to 400 loaves each weekend, while expanding offerings like pastillos and pork sandwiches. The remodeled store, aided by an $80,000 loan from Lorain National, showcases a bakery in back and a lottery machine at the register. The Marreros praise Mayor Olejko for improving the area and say police protection supports business growth as they plan further food offerings and neighborhood revitalization.
