Rail unions urge US to avoid blocking a strike

Five railroad union negotiators left a labor convention in Atlantic City to seek Secretary George Shultz’s help amid a threatened nationwide strike next week against six railroads led by Santa Fe and B&O C&O. Warning issued as Hoss search widens in Northeast region

Police told storeowners and banks to beware of checks written by Linda Peugeot and her 2 year old daughter, believed kidnapped by fugitive Stanley B. Hoss Jr. The 26 year old is wanted for a policeman's murder and may forge or have signed checks to fund his escape. Parade of Bands Lights Up Midview High Tonight

Eight Lorain County high schools compete in the 13th Annual Parade of Bands at Midview High School football field at 7 45 p m with seven to eleven minute halftime shows by Midview Columbia South Amherst Firelands Avon Avon Lake Clearview and Keystone. Chicago riot trial chaos leads to contempt cites

In Chicago US District Court Judge Julius J. Hoffman cited four defense lawyers for contempt after they failed to appear at the convention riot trial. Proceedings were stormy with clenched fists from two lawyers and a defendant, one defendant firing his attorneys, and another blowing jurors a kiss. Tigar of San Francisco and Lefcourt of New York City were jailed pending a Monday hearing.

Rhodes to share stage at Lorain County airport dedication

Gov James A Rhodes will join the Lorain County airport dedication at Russia Road, a $12 million project.
