Memorial gift fuels Black River library growth and events
The Black River High School library receives a $500 memorial gift from Herman Owen in honor of his wife Beulah, an outstanding teacher. The note explains books will be chosen to inform and inspire students. Black River students excel at the Ashland County Fair with multiple top placings in baby beef shows and 4 H awards as FFA and vocational classes tour farms for contour farming and erosion control. An ordination service for Roger Robbenwolt is set at First Church the coming Sunday. Countess Alice Fay di Castagnola, 72, poet and wife of Count Giovanni di Castagnola, dies in New York from a heart attack.
