Crocodile Hatchlings Rise in Everglades National Park

UF researcher Frank Mazzotti and team counted 962 American crocodile hatchlings in Everglades National Park this year, nearly double 2013’s 554, signaling potential success of restoration efforts and crocodiles as waterway health indicators. The species, once endangered, was reclassified as threatened in 2007 amid canal-driven salinity changes.
