The West Wing won its third straight best drama Emmy as Friends earned best comedy for the first time. Allison Janney, John Spencer, and Stockard Channing won acting awards for West Wing while Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, and Doris Roberts took comedy acting honors. Jennifer Aniston won best actress for Friends as six feet under earned limited wins.
