Chrysler overtime deal gives UAW a narrow foothold
UAW negotiators outlined a voluntary overtime scheme that allows Chrysler to require overtime during model changeovers while making most overtime voluntary after nine hours. The plan includes penalties for absent workers, a rule that Sunday work must be voluntary, and new Sunday and weekend notice requirements. It also adds a SUBF contribution of six cents per overtime hour and 12 cents for double time, with phased applicability set to start January 1 1975.
