Strike Leader Gorman Presses Roosevelt Plan Amid Mills Row
The page continues a clash between Francis J. Gorman and Sloan over the union clash with Roosevelt on Gov. Joan G. Winant’s board produced plan. Sloan would not fully commit, urging serious consideration and reopening mills soon. Gorman retorted Sloan had priorly resisted cooperation with government agencies and warned the mills would reopen only after the strike ends. Despite the heated exchange, both sides seem near agreement to end the conflict that has cost lives and huge wages and business losses.
