One Dead and Dozens Injured in West Philadelphia Building Collapse
A West Philadelphia apartment house collapsed injuring about two dozen people, with one man killed. George Mitchell, 45, and Anna Bell, 30, were trapped and later died, while others including Mitchell’s wife and daughter were preparing to sail for Greece. Police said nearly everyone in the double dwelling was hurt to some degree, but only a few were hospital-bound. Rescue workers pulled survivors from the wreckage as the building’s structure failed further.
