Landlord George Schneider Dies at 51 in Lorain
Lorain landlord George Schneider, 51, died of a heart attack at his home amid long running disputes with Elyria and Lorain officials over blighted properties. County records show 165 Schneider properties, though officials estimate about 300 in the county, with roughly 275 in Lorain. Some properties were held in limited liability companies, raising questions about personal liability. Schneider had 57 code violations through May last year, with dozens still active. Officials cautioned a transition could complicate anti blight efforts as the estate settles.
