Elyria High School Class of 1954 gathered Aug 13 to 15 for a 50 year reunion at Spring Valley Country Club and Elyria Holiday Inn. 177 classmates and spouses, including attendees from Washington California Arizona Texas Florida and possibly Nova Scotia, enjoyed tours of the high school, a Cascade Park picnic, and a sit down dinner. Organizer Shirley Erb Messaros received roses and a plaque for 50 years of service. Speakers recalled memories as a barbershop quartet and cheerleaders performed amid turquoise and yellow colors and keepsakes from 1954. Gach of Avon Lake, a Ford plant veteran, traveled near and far to reconnect with former classmates.
Bill Gadh recalls the 50th reunion for Elyria High School classmates. A weekend of conversations, life histories, and a roll call of 56 deceased classmates. About 50 graduates attended the Sunday brunch at the Elyria Holiday Inn as memories linger and plans begin for the 55th reunion in 2009.
