In the western basin smallmouth bass up to 7 pounds are found suspended near reefs and rocky shorelines. Central basin walleye angling favors 35 to 65 feet 7–12 miles from shore with deep-diving crankbaits. Yellow perch haunt 30 to 50 feet near shore, black and white crappie in shoreline zones, and steelhead reported on northeast beaches. Northern pike, channel catfish, and snugeyes noted at various lakes with drift and bottom techniques recommended.
