James Joseph Murphy 32, National Tube Co employee and former Elyria resident, died after being struck on 28th Street in front of the Lorain Y M C A while leaving the 3 pm shift. Driver Frank Fisher assisted and both rushed to St Joseph's Hospital. Murphy, a boxer, had worked at National Tube and Koplin Drug Store, survived by parents, sister, two brothers, and a niece. The vehicle was driven by F H Hass of R D 2 Norwalk police reported. G R Oakes of 307 Seventh street reported back injuries and his wife pain from a later traffic accident at Broad and East Bridge streets at 520 p m. He gave the other car’s license number to police.
