Crop Prospects Show Decline in Ohio and U.S.
Ohio farmers face a sharp August drop in corn prospects with a 6 percent fall from August 1, while the United States shows a 5 percent drop. Despite this, Ohio may harvest a better corn crop in 1928, with an expected 23 percent gain over 1927, versus a 6 percent national rise. Oats prospects in Ohio fall about 7 percent, but the nation gains 1 percent, and Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri report doubled oats versus 1927. The north central states project roughly a 50 percent increase in oats this year.
