Solidarity Day rally draws 260000 to Capitol streets
More than a quarter million union members and supporters gathered near the Capitol for a Solidarity Day rally against Reagan policies. AFL-CIO leader Lane Kirkland and Coretta Scott King addressed the crowd, with organizers claiming up to half a million. Park Police reported no major incidents as protesters, in jeans and windbreakers, marched along Constitution Avenue.

Lorain Countians Rally in Washington Solidarity Day Show of Labor Unity
More than 500 Lorain Countians traveled by bus car or train to the Mall for the AFL CIO organized Solidarity Day rally opposing the Reagan economic and social policies. The crowd swelled to well over 260000 with autoworkers steelworkers and others expressing solidarity and a festive mood as they heard speakers from labor groups.
