Kidnapped Chicago boy saved by FBI raid in West Side
FBI agents rescued Hillard Willis Marks, the 7 year old grandson of a wealthy manufacturer, and arrested two men and a woman on kidnaping charges. The boy, abducted Wednesday while walking home from Oak Brook, was held for 125000 dollars ransom. He asked if there had been a party as he was reunited with his parents at FBI headquarters in Chicago.

Elyrian is killed in Vietnam
Army Spec. 4 William E. Foster Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Foster, was killed in action in Vietnam September 12 when the aircraft he was aboard crashed during a surveillance mission. Foster, missing in action since Sept. 12, had joined the Army in May 1967 after graduating from Miami University in Oxford. He also attended Cranbrook School in Michigan. His father presides over General Industries Co. in Elyria.

John Southerland 18 inches of space saved his life three miles inside U S Steel Somerset coal mine where the roof collapsed 10 miles northeast of Paonia Colorado. Four supervisors and a foreman perished. Rescue workers needed over six hours to reach the victims as 150 workers dug with hands and equipment. The mine, 6000 feet up, was owned by U S Steel since 1955 and modernized in 1962.
