Five Referendum Petitions Put In Circulation Today

The Central Labor Union rejected a joint two committee plan with the Chamber of Commerce to review the Lovain Comits Electric Co. sworn statement and proceed to the Public Utilities Commission. They will push the referendum to oppose an electric rate increase, needing about 400 signatures from residents across 10 precincts, with women eligible to sign. The council approved the rate increase and a gas rate rise, while the mayor withheld approval pending a referendum.
