Road to departure began years ago at Lorain plant
Ford Motor Co. idled half of Lorain Assembly seven years ago ending the Thunderbird and Cougar lines and displacing 2000 workers. The remainder will close within a year, shrinking the plant's output and Lorain's economy. Local leaders blame past union, school and city issues plus a failed paint shop project for the decision.
