In Grand Rapids the county jail basement held twelve slot machines now smashed by Sheriff Carl Finegan and deputies using sledge hammers and axes. Turnpike Would Cut Through Elyria North Section

Elyria and Lorain County officials attended a public hearing on the Ohio Turnpike route. Mayor Henry W. Ault and County Engineer Don Patterson with commissioners Oscar G. Five Police Dept Members to Take Civil Service Examinations

Five members of the city police department are studying for a civil service exam set for 7 p.m. tomorrow. The test will determine the chief position vacated by Chief E J Stankard's death and a captain slot. Coating Company Moves Into Race Road Plant

Western Coating Company of Manor Pennsylvania, known for rust prevention coatings, is moving into a former Hahn Manufacturing building near Ridgeville Road. A Chronicle Telegram reporter found reparations underway for occupancy. Frank B. Evans led the firm, not present during the visit. Indians Ready To Take Orders For Series Tickets

The Cleveland Baseball Club will accept orders for World Series tickets until Saturday. A set of four tickets covers games one two six and seven if needed with box seat price 32 dollars and reserved seat 25 dollars. Applications require money orders or certified checks with a self addressed stamped envelope and a 56 cent registry fee. No more than two seats per person and only one order per application.
