Walter Lewisohn, millionaire banker, seeks habeas corpus to obtain freedom from a Greenwich, Connecticut sanitarium where he says he has been held since last May. He claims a partner of Maurice used the confinement to entrap him. Miss Hughes says she knows of the alleged imprisonment.
In New Lexington Ohio on September 19 three men Wesley Rosa James Ross and William Horton all of New Straitsville were formally charged with arson for a fire that destroyed a business block and damaged several residences in the village last Friday. They are jailed in default of 5000 bond each. Officials also probe the Hillis post office and general store fire at Claybank with postmaster James Burnett blaming a fire bug. two residences burned.
In Los Angeles on September 19 the jury in the Gaston Glass case was discharged by Police Judge Frederickson after reporting it was hopelessly unable to reach a verdict. City prosecutor Friedlander said he would move to dismiss the charge against Glass and also against Louis Gasnier Mrs Helen McCloskey and Alma Rhoades.
