Outdoor education program aids Traverse City students
In Traverse City Michigan since 1966 a field laboratory program keeps about 50 at risk teens in school by spending half days cutting timber building trails and running a sawmill. They learn vocational skills gain confidence and also study nature during visits by younger students and teachers.

Jose Flores, 21, of 1750 East 28th Street Lorain, was sentenced to an indeterminate 10 to 25 years in Mansfield Reformatory after pleading guilty to the holdup of Ruths Variety Store on Broadway Lorain on June 10 He asked for probation but Judge LeRoy F Kelly denied it and reaffirmed a strict policy against compromise in armed robbery cases The judge also granted probation to James Rodriguez 20 of 3129 Denver Avenue Lorain who was indicted for breaking and entering at the Joyce Buick Agency in Lorain and sent him to Erie County authorities for extradition after he was wanted there for attempting to cash a stolen money order
