Associated Press reports a U S Navy light helicopter conducting a search for the downed South Korean jumbo jet crashed into the Sea of Japan. All four crew members were rescued by the Coast Guard cutter Munro and are in good condition. No hostile action is suspected.
Lorain widow Frances Calvin and her two children will share a 1.4 million settlement from Air Florida over the January 1982 Washington crash that killed J Gordon Calvin, AmShip executive and VP. Probate court must approve the award. the case closes 60 federal actions with five Florida suits pending.
Elyria resident William Grabowski, 38, was listed in critical condition with second and third degree burns after a 1 a.m. mobile home fire in Lorain County. He lived at Parkview Court about five years and worked at Stanadyne Corp. in Elyria. Fire investigators believe the blaze began in the kitchen wall, causing total damage around $15,000.
