Sheriff Named Defedant in 929000 Suit for Boy Injuries
Fred A Underhill sheriff of Lorain county was named defendant in a twenty five thousand dollar damage suit filed by Joseph Grunda 14 of Stop thirteen Lake Avenue. The petition, filed in the common pleas court by the boy's father John Grunda, cites an accident on May twenty fifth on Lake Avenue in front of the boy's home where the bicycle rider was struck by an automobile driven by Charles Ives under Underhill's direction. The bar was thrown about thirty feet, injuring the boy with a fractured skull and a broken collar bone and possible insanity. The boy was in bed six weeks with medical costs claimed at 500. The petition accuses Underhill of careless driving at fifty miles per hour and tailgating with no warning. Summons will be issued by the Coroner.
