Barbed Wire Scrap Planes aboard Wichita Barricade

Officials of the Maritime Federation of the Pacific blocked an oil barge from refueling the government owned ship Wichita in Seattle inner harbor amid roiling labor and war material transport tensions. The Wichita carries barbed wire scrap iron and 16 aircraft for China and may be exempt from Roosevelt policy. Union leaders said a sit down strike for $250 war bonuses could follow upon docking times, while authorities reported no orders to halt sailing.
