Avon residents clash over hunting distance near homes
Avon officials enforce a 500 foot rule while 24 homeowners along Avon Belden Riegelsberger and Jaycox roads push for tighter limits. At a Friday night meeting called by Councilman David Kaiser, most attendees supported current rules, arguing Avon is a hunting community. Wildlife officer David Shinko warned 500 feet is too close and urged 800 feet, noting slugs travel farther and goose and deer populations stress golf courses and crops.
